Karma’s October Photo Hunt: Idioms

As easy...

When I first saw Karma’s Photo Hunt theme for October, I thought, “oh, fun!”  I love words, and enjoy playing with them.  I was ready to jump on the bandwagon and join in the fun.  But as the month grew older, I grew no wiser as to what I was going to do with the theme of idioms.  With so much to pick from, I was drawing a blank.

All of the ideas I had earlier in the month flew right out of my head.  Then M the Younger came over for a weekend visit with a big bag of apples and a recipe for apple pie that he volunteered to make.  For me, the project just became as easy as…

...pie!!

I never quite understood what was easy about pie.  I find them difficult to make.  They are, however, easy to eat.  And this particular apple pie was effortless for me since I didn’t have to make it.

While waiting for the pie to bake, I noticed Izzy playing in the dining room.

I’m sure you know where I’m going with this…

Yep.  You got it.  The cat’s out of the bag!  (In case you missed it, in the bag is another idiom.)

Today's view of the pond

It started out rainy here today, but then the sun came along and shooed away the clouds, giving us an almost picture-perfect day.  M the Elder and M the Younger are outside getting things ready for the winter to come.

Say goodbye to the swim platform.

The boats have been put away and the swim platform has been hauled to shore.  When you see them again in my daily pond shots, you will know that winter is over here in the Bogs.  In the meantime, we’re getting ready for ice skating on the pond, sledding down the hillside, and cross-country skiing.  We are officially finished with warm weather activities on and in the pond.

We’re thinking of going to a soccer match in Akron tonight.  Regular readers might recall that M and I are big fans of the Akron Zips men’s soccer team. They are doing well again this year and we haven’t had the time or opportunity to go and watch them play.  It’s going to be cold tonight, with a chance of freezing rain or snow.  We will have dig out the winter gear if we do decide to go.
