Perfect weather

A morning walk around the pond

The weather this morning was pure perfection.  Chilly.  Brisk.  Invigorating.  The air smelled fresh, clean, with just a hint of the earthiness of autumn.  The morning dew sparkled in the meadows.  Crows, still meeting in the woods, cawed out to each other.  A blue jay joined in the ruckus, while killdeers flew overhead announcing that they’ll soon be leaving.

There are asters everywhere

There is nothing to fix, nothing to do, nothing needs to be better, nicer, or in a certain way, all that stuff is just thoughts, there’s no need to take any interest in it.  How things are is just fine.  Rest.  Rest on the inside.

Walking down the sledding hill

And this do I call immaculate perception of all things:  to want nothing else from them, but to be allowed to lie before them as a mirror with a hundred facets.

Mirror

A family member is arriving today for a short visit with us here at Breezy Acres.  We have plans.  Lots of plans.  I’m not sure how many we’ll follow through on (because we can’t do it all), but I’m sure the next few days will be full.

Mirror, mirror

There will be hikes and bike rides, maybe a train ride, music, movies, and good food.

The corner

Whatever we do, I’m sure it will be fun.  I’m also sure my blogging/computer time will be limited.  I’ll post if and when I can.  Otherwise, I’ll see you on Sunday or Monday.

Why fret away your life?  See the willow tree by the river;
there it is, watching the water flow by.

Asters living among the raspberry bushes

That’s about it from the Bogs on this lovely Wednesday in September.  It’s a wonderful day for a hike or a leisurely stroll.  We’ll be watching the sunset from the porch this evening.  It will be a little chilly out there so bring a jacket.

Have a delightful end to the week and a wonder-filled weekend!

What a great stroll around the pond. If ever I settle down I want a pond just like it near by. Like the banner photo, too.

Oh Robin, what a lovely post. The images the quotes. Your description of the morning is pure perfection. It is exactly what I experienced when walking in the park this morning. I too am loving these temperatures. And I am anticipating winter (hopefully more snow this year than last) because winter is my favorite season and autumn my second favorite. Again just a really lovely post. Hope you and M get to enjoy even more of it.

Thank you so much, Terry. 🙂

I’m hoping for more snow this year too. Maybe between the two of us hoping for it, we’ll get at least enough to play in.

  5. What lovely quotes to accompany beautiful pictures! Thank you, Robin! Enjoy your company!

Breezy Acres is looking so fresh and beautiful after yesterday’s rain (the asters are especially lovely!) and I’m sure your visitor will enjoy the surroundings and your company. Have a wonderful few days with them, and don’t worry about us, we’ll be here, waiting to visit again, when you next have time. 🙂

  7. Oh, you’re making me miss autumn in the US so much! Next year, for sure, I’ll be back for autumn and Thanksgiving and Christmas! Have fun with your friends!

  9. How beautiful. I’ve missed visiting the bogs, but now that I’m on a break from classes, I thought I’d stop by and see what’s going on. And what a beautiful post this is! May you have many such glorious days. 🙂

  16. That opening shot of the sky and pond is spectacular. I like seeing the changes of colors on your property. Always an abundance of photo subjects there, huh? Loved this walk.

      Thank you, Teresita. 🙂
You might think there’s always an abundance of photo subjects — and I suppose there are — but would you believe there are times I think “There’s nothing here for me to shoot today?”

  17. It’s been perfect here, too, this week! Nice and cool in the morning (almost chilly!!), and warm in the afternoon. Makes me think that we really need some chairs for our front porch, so we can sit outside and enjoy this beautiful weather 🙂

I so enjoy the aster time of year! Little white/pink asters and purple asters on the side of the road. The waning sign of summer… What I’m trying to say is I loved your asters the best.
