Guess who’s back?

Old Man Winter has returned.  He won’t be staying long.  The next warm-up starts tomorrow.  But he’s had quite a run this weekend.

I don’t think he’s been around long enough to truly disrupt the spring stirrings.  The snow we received overnight and this morning is probably protecting the plants from the bitter cold (highs in the 20s).

I took a long walk this morning to admire Winter’s beauty.  For the first time ever, my broken internal thermostat worked in my favor, heating me almost to the point of spontaneous combustion.  I was so warm I didn’t want to go back indoors, and ended up staying out for nearly two hours.

I have returned to the Bogs, too, after a marvelous weekend with my granddaughters and their wonderful parents.  Our oldest granddaughter participated in a state dance competition.  She was fabulous as usual, and her dance line won first place in their category.

Our drive home late yesterday afternoon was a little unnerving.  We ran into a couple bands of snow squalls, the kind where the snow falls so fast and furious that you can’t see what’s in front of you.

I have to wonder what people are thinking when they cruise along at 65 mph or faster during a snow squall.  That’s how pile-ups happen.  A word of advice:  If you can’t see what’s in front of you, it’s a good idea to slow down.  This is especially true if you’re driving one of those big trucks with more than one trailer attached (yes, I’m talking to you FedEx truck drivers).

We have had random snow showers throughout the day today, but mostly it’s been sunny with a brilliant blue sky.

I think M and I are settled in at home for a week or two.  Maybe.  Nobody has mentioned it yet, but I’m sure we’ll be heading over to the Pittsburgh area sometime soon to visit with M the Younger and his wife in their new home.  I can’t tell you how relieved we are that they have finally found work and are back out on their own.  I loved having them nearby (and they’re still not that far away), but I suspect they were getting frustrated with the situation, and I know they are happy to be “living as grown-ups” (as my daughter-in-law put it) once again.

A word from Captain Obvious

Time to blog about blogging.  Just wanted to let you all know that I am so far behind in reading and commenting on other blogs (and email) that it’s impossible for me to get caught up without spending the next week sitting in this chair and doing nothing other than catching up.  And while I would love to do the actual catching up with everyone, the thought of spending that much time in a chair and at the computer is nightmarish to me.  My body would not be happy and all the positive gains I’ve acquired through a daily yoga practice would be lost rather quickly as my bones and muscles stiffen up from too much sitting.  My mind and soul would not be happy because I’d be missing my daily walks and interaction with nature.  I would also miss out on a lot of Life.  That would not be good.

So, catching up isn’t going to happen.  I am sincerely sorry if I missed anything important or the best blog posts ever.  A big welcome to my newest followers.  I hope to return your visits sometime soon.  And another apology to those who have graciously and generously nominated me for blog awards.  I am honored, but will not be able to participate this time around.  Thank you so much for keeping up with me.  I don’t know how you all do it.  If anyone is interested in the non-paying position of blog assistant for Life in the Bogs, let me know.  I could use the help.  (I’m kidding.  Maybe.)
