A quick walk around the pond

Ladder reflection

It is warm here in the Bogs today.  We had rain showers for a good part of the morning.  Then the sun came out, warmed things up, and it’s a little steamy out there now.  I was so warm on my walk around the pond that I was eyeing the swim platform, thinking a swim might be a real possibility except for one thing.  The nights have been cold enough to leave frost sprinkled about.  I’m guessing the pond water is still pretty cold.

Slow walking a 5k on a spectacular Sunday

A spectator watching my 5k.

Happy Sunday!  I know that by the time this post goes out some of you may be finished or just about finished with Sunday.  I hope it was a good one.  Did you participate in Automattic’s Worldwide WP 5k?  I did, and with probably one of the slowest times on record.

Some of my favorite things

Karma’s Photo Hunt this month is to photograph four of your favorite things.  I thought this would be really easy, but that turned out not to be true.  I have so many favorite things (and yes, that would include brown paper packages tied up with string…lol!) that I couldn’t make a decision about which four to feature.  I’ve cheated a bit by making some collages (with some new photos, but most from the archives) under general categories that have allowed me to include lots of my favorite things.  Since Karma specifically said “things,” I have not included people.  My family, of course, are tops on any list, but they are not things and that eliminated them automatically.  It made it easier for me, too, because none of them (as far as I know) wish to appear on the blog.  I don’t know why not.  I might make them rich and famous.  Okay, maybe not.  I don’t have that much blog traffic (another reason for them not to worry about showing their mugs around here).

The collage up above features one of my most favorite of things:  The pond and the land here at Breezy Acres, in all seasons and all times of the day.  Even when I’m complaining about the weather, I love it here.

After the rain

It feels like the beginning of March rather than the end of April.  The clouds cleared this morning, allowing the sun to make a big appearance, but the wind is gusty and there is a chill in the air.  Much more like the end of winter than mid-spring.

Thursday Travels

Somewhere near the Calhan Paint Mines in Colorado.

One of my goals this year is to sort through photos from our trips to Colorado in 2009 and 2010.  Many of them have not seen the light of day since they were taken, and that means they haven’t appeared on my blog or been seen in print.

Delightful and delicious

Dandelion delight

‘Tis a gorgeous day here in the Bogs.  The sky has been mostly clear and a lovely shade of blue.  The sun has been warming and brightening.  It seems unusually quiet without the bellowing of the blustery winds.  All is calm.

Why I haven’t gone vegan yet

Huevos Rancheros, Breezy Acres style

This is my newest food addiction.  Huevos Rancheros.  Eggs and beans and tomatoes and chiles.  Did you notice the potatoes in there too?  These are not your typical (or traditional) Huevos Rancheros.  I had to put my own twist on them.  Necessity was the mother of invention in this case.
