Ledges

Boardwalk at Twinsburg Ledges

It’s official.  We had our first snow of the season.  We woke up to a very light dusting of snow yesterday along with some chilly, blustery weather. It was a big change, that’s for sure.  I had to haul out the winter coat, hat, and mittens.  That was due to the temperature and the wind, not the snow.   The snow didn’t hang around for long.

Trees askew

Prior to the big shopping trip yesterday, M and I went for a hike in the Twinsburg Ledges area where I managed to take a series of strange (to me) photographs.  Not intentionally.  They just turned out that way.

Coming out of Glacier Cave and peering around the rock. (That's M in the background looking very tiny in this photo.)

The Ledges Trail in Twinsburg is a short 1.1 mile loop.  It passes through a wetland area with a long boardwalk to protect the fens and bogs, and by a series of sandstone ledges covered in lichens and moss.  You can also visit Glacier Cave, a grotto in the rock wall with rock fins that rise up to 70 feet.

Inside Glacier Cave, looking up.

It’s a pretty trail, with lots of green from the mosses, lichens, and ferns.  I would love to hike it in the spring when everything is green.  I half expected to see a fairy pop up from behind one of the ferns or an elf sitting up on the ledges at the top of the cave.

I’ll have more for you from the Ledges Trail soon.  I’m spending time with friends this evening.  Hence the short post.  Thanks for stopping by.  I hope your Saturday has been a good one.  🙂

Looks like a great place for a short hike. Is there an entrance off route 91 in Twinsburg? I think your pictures are lovely.

What great shots these are! I really like the slanted trees view… way cool, and the ‘Inside Glacier Cave, looking up’. A great place to hike and take in nature.

We had a dusting of snow covering the autumn leaves on the ground. Now today, it is sunny bright and almost warm.

Hey, I like the bench photo for the header. 🙂
