291: Hold my place

From the garden salad

Something exciting is happening today.  As a result, I decided I should schedule a post.  Just in case I don’t have time to write one up as the exciting thing is happening.

Curious about what it is?  I thought about leaving this as a cliffhanger (“you’ll have to stay tuned…”), but then thought better of the idea as you all might not find this as exciting as I do.  Still want to know?  😉

I’m getting a new computer today.  I’ve been using an old one for quite some time now, and it will be nice to have something I hope will be faster, leaner, and with more room for my photos.  The computer I’m using now just doesn’t have the space for too many photos so I often have to upload no more than 50 at a time, sort through them, decide what to use (for the blog, for printing, etc.), and move anything I want to save over to an external hard drive.  With the new computer, I’ll be able to upload everything from the past three trips we’ve taken, and I’ll be able to do it all at once.  The sorting and backing up will still have to happen, but at least I won’t be spending nearly as much time on the uploading part of the process.

Hopefully all will go well and I’ll be back to my regular daily posts soon.

Quick Outdoor Adventures Update

The little rain dance I did yesterday must have worked.  We finally got some much-needed rain.  We could probably use a bit more, but it’s better than none at all.

No photos from today’s trip outside.  I’m waiting until I get everything up and running well before I start taking more photos.  Besides, I have a ton of photos from the past 3 weeks to sort through.

Yay! New computer. What kind did you get (gotta know, weird computer types that love computer talk!)

It’s not a brand name computer. My youngest son was going to build one for me. He went shopping for the components and found one already built with everything I specified I needed. It does have the usual brand-name stuff (Intel processor, Windows 7, etc). What’s really cool is the new flat screen monitor. Things sure look different on here. It’s going to help me do a better job of deleting photos, that’s for sure. :)\

I may be here for days, though, transferring stuff from the old, slow computer to the new one. It’s taking much longer than I thought it would.

Have a great time with your new PC Robin, I’m still using WIndows XP on mine , but I’m quite happy being a dinosaur for the time being. 😉 … My PC (pat pat) is working ok so I’m happy., she’s sitting here humming away, and as I’ve named her (Peace) I’d feel as if I was getting rid of a friend if I upgraded. A smooth switchover wish for you… xPenx

That salad looks delicious. And hurray for a new computer!

  12. Hooray! Congrats on the new computer!! It’s such a wonderful feeling to sit down in front of a new computer, have everything work properly, marvel at the speed and the amount of files that you can save on the HD. 🙂

  13. Robin says:

    Thanks everyone! 🙂

The new computer is all hooked up and running. You all look FANTASTIC on the new flat screen. Not that you didn’t look FANTASTIC on the old one. But I can see you better now. 😉

Your excitement about getting a new computer reminds me how I felt when my husband recently figured out and showed me how to upload photos from my camera to my laptop…instantly. No more waiting until he had the time, will and energy to do so on one of our main computers. Zeta, WordPress photo site, was great in the interim. But having my own photos on my posts is definitely more satisfying.

hallelujah for gizmos and gadgets…there are advantages to the modern age…even if i’m old-fashioned at heart…hugmamma. 🙂

  15. That looks delicious! Congrats on the new computer!

  16. Congrats on the computer! I’d be excited too.

Huzzah for new gadgets! I think our old (2005-ish) desktop computer is due for an upgrading… pronto! It doesn’t like to do more than one thing at a time, which I guess was fine in 2005, but we’re all supposed to be multitasking like wizards now. Ha.
