Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralysed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds’ wings.

Beating your wings and feathers
You broke free from this world…
~ Rumi, Gone to the Unseen
Today’s Capture Your 365 prompt is Beat. The beat of drums, the beat of the heart, the beat of a bird’s wings. In the case of the starlings pictured above, it looks like I captured the beat of the wings as well as the bird on the suet crying, “Beat it!” to the other bird flying away. Starlings can be rude creatures.

Every tree and plant in the meadow seemed to be dancing
those which average eyes would see as fixed and still.

(Black-eyed Susans at sunset.)
You sit here for days saying, ‘This is strange business.’ You’re the strange business. You have the energy of the sun in you, but you keep knotting it up at the base of your spine. You’re some weird kind of gold that wants to stay melted in the furnace, so you won’t have to become coins.
