In the garage

In the garage

In the garage

The slogan of progress is changing from the full dinner pail to the full garage.

~ Herbert Hoover

The Capture Your 365 prompt for today takes us into the garage.  Our garage is a mess right now.  That’s not my fault.  The garage is not my responsibility as far as cleaning and organizing go.  I learned many years ago that there are some things the man of the house prefers to do himself.  Organizing and cleaning the garage is one of those things. Rain and slush

I don't think we'll be seeing this today.

Sun in the clouds.

I’m writing this during the early morning hours.  It’s just starting to lighten up outside.  Before I could see what was going on outdoors, the local weather folks on television informed me that the icy rain part of the weather front moving through had flown east of us and the precipitation had turned to plain old rain.  Fog is rising from the snow cover.  It’s going to be a slushy day.

Beautiful blizzard

Mr. Cardinal watches as the snow starts to fall.

Mr. Cardinal watches as the snow starts to fall.  Everything looks a little blurry due to the movement of the snow as well as the wind in the branches of the tree.

Wow.  We have been having quite a snow event here in the Bogs today.  It’s incredible.  And beautiful.  And incredible.  This is more like what I expect from winter in these parts.

I lied (and goose tales)

Unwelcome visitors. Except, sometimes I enjoy it when they visit. Then I remember that too many geese spoil the pond.

Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable.  Be honest and transparent anyway.

News from the meadows and other places

The wildflower meadow on a rainy day.

Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seem odorless but all together perfume the air.

~ Georges Bernanos

On your left*

Early morning fog hovering over the pond.

I went on a bike ride today.  I went on a train ride, too.  The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has a Bike Aboard! program that, for a $2.00 fare (yes, you read that right — $2.00!!), allows cyclists to bike along the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail in one direction and ride the train back to where you started, or as in my case, the other way around.

WordPress randomness in real life situations

Early morning at the start line for The Color Run. Columbus, Ohio. July 21, 2012.

The Color Run was a blast.  It was so much fun I’d love to do it again someday, hopefully with one of my grandchildren.  Oh heck, I’d like the whole family to come along!  And all of my friends!  If you ever get the opportunity to participate in one, do it.  Don’t think twice about it.  Just do it.  You don’t have to be a runner.  Many of the people participating were not running at all.  Some were walking.  A few were skipping or dancing occasionally (especially at or near the finish line).  More than a few were rolling on the ground, but that was just at the color stations.  I’m pretty sure they didn’t roll the entire 5k.
