The elusive clover

The elusive clover

Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.

~ Pedro Calderon de la Barca, Spanish Poet and Playright, 1600-1681

Shamrock (or Clover) is the Capture Your 365 prompt for today, but we were also given a little wiggle room with a second choice of Green.  I almost had to take it because finding a clover, any clover, was not easy.  This one was sticking its little head out of the water at the edge of the pond.  We had a lot of rain overnight and the pond level is above where it should be, the water spreading out on the lawn.  Not that it matters.  It’s all one big puddle out there today.

Spring cleaning

Don’t own so much clutter that you will be relieved to see your house catch fire.

~ Wendell Berry, Farming:  a hand book

Somewhere, sometime, I read something that suggested one’s outer environment is a reflection of one’s inner state of being.  If there is any truth to that, my inner state of being must have been chaotic, cluttered, disorganized, and in need of a good dusting or scrubbing.  My inner being was holding on to “fat clothes,” too.  Expansion of the inner being is no problem, but my outer being needs to let go of such things.  There is no going back.

More than one

More than one

More than one

Avoid making a commotion, just as you wouldn’t stir up the water before fishing.  Don’t use a flash out of respect for the natural lighting, even when there isn’t any.

~ Henri Cartier-Bresson

Today’s Capture Your 365 prompt is “More than one.”  The email that arrived in my inbox this morning describing the prompt mentions light, and how you should walk around your home at different times of the day, noticing how the light changes.  There is not much natural light to be had today, and not much change in it from window to window to window.  The best spot to find light today is in the basement as it comes in through the windows.  The contrast between the darkness of the basement corners and the light coming in the windows made the light just enough.

The lights

Frosty holly

I’m going to skip Thursday’s Travels today because Mother Nature decided to decorate the meadows.  The morning was steeped in the awesomeness of frost and sunlight.

In the pink

I believe in pink.  I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner.  I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.  I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.  I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.  I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

~ Audrey Hepburn

I’m bringing out my girly side today.  I am not a girly-girl most of the time, but every now and then I surprise myself (and others) with the part of myself that loves pedicures, pretty clothes, and the color pink.  The unnatural pinkness of the above photo is courtesy of Pixlr.  Working with a point & shoot camera, I don’t have the option of using filters so this is the next best thing as far as I’m concerned.

364: Misty morning

I was up and out early this morning, taking another barefoot walk through the dewy grass.  Although it is still technically summer, the autumn mists seem to have settled in as our morning greeter.

360: Coasting

Church steeple in Akron, Ohio.

The closer I get to the end of this commitment, the less I am in the mood to work on a blog post.  I feel as though I’ve already put in most of the hard work, and now I just want to coast on in to the finish line.
