We got there just in time for sunset although we didn’t see the sun itself. Just a band of light on the horizon.
Rain and slush

It’s just starting to lighten up outside. Before I could see what was going on outdoors, the local weather folks on television informed me that the icy rain part of the weather front moving through had flown east of us and the precipitation had turned to plain old rain. Fog is rising from the snow cover. It’s going to be a slushy day.

I have seen the Canadian Rockies, the American Rockies, the Andes and the Alps and the Highlands of Scotland; but for simple beauty, Cape Breton outrivals them all.

During the last Thursday Travels (A Friday edition of Thursday Travels: The Ceilidh Trail), we left off at the shipwreck, just after visiting the Glenora Distillery. It was shortly after this that we began our trek (okay, it was really a ride) on the Cabot Trail.

I know. It’s Friday, not Thursday. But I’m off skiing this afternoon and won’t have time to post the photos from that little adventure so you’re stuck with a scheduled post and some travel photos from Nova Scotia today. In my last Thursday Travels post (Ferries and boats and lighthouses, oh my), M and I had just landed in Nova Scotia. We left Caribou, Nova Scotia, and went east on the Sunrise Trail, making our way towards Cape Breton.
Spectral morning

When I walked around the pond and into the woods this morning, I, too, vanished into the mist, wandering in a world that was familiarly unfamiliar.

Nothing. But was there anything round the universe to show where it stopped before the nothing place began? It could not be a wall; but there could be a thin line there all round everything.

This is the week for the group walk. Pick any day from the 8th (today) through the 14th (Sunday), get out there, do something, and then blog about it. Paint a picture of your walk/ride with images or words or however you want to do it. Come back and leave a link in the comments on this post, (which happens to be this very post), and I’ll include you in a wrap up of all the walks next week.
