Solitary

Solitary

Grant me the ability to be alone; may it be my way every day
to go outdoors among the trees and grasses,
among all growing things, and there may I be alone,
to talk with the one that I belong to.

~ Rabbi Nachman of Bratzlav

Last day of summer

On the Towpath Trail yesterday

Just a quick post to mark the end of summer, and to say hello.  I’m having fun with our visiting family person.  We’ve been biking and hiking, talking and laughing, and generally having a great time, enjoying each other’s company.  I’ll be back with something more substantial on Sunday.  I will be ending my yoga challenge tomorrow and starting my meditation challenge on Sunday.

I hope you’ve had the time and opportunity to get out and enjoy this last day of summer.  We had a surprisingly nice day.  Surprising because they had been predicting rain.  The rain did arrive a little while ago, but we got to spend most of the day outdoors before that happened and there was plenty of sunshine to go around.

Catch up with you soon!

Perfect weather

A morning walk around the pond

The weather this morning was pure perfection.  Chilly.  Brisk.  Invigorating.  The air smelled fresh, clean, with just a hint of the earthiness of autumn.  The morning dew sparkled in the meadows.  Crows, still meeting in the woods, cawed out to each other.  A blue jay joined in the ruckus, while killdeers flew overhead announcing that they’ll soon be leaving.

Soggy weather

Today’s view of the pond

Water, the Hub of Life.  Water is its mater and matrix, mother and medium.  Water is the most extraordinary substance!  Practically all its properties are anomalous, which enabled life to use it as building material for its machinery.  Life is water dancing to the tune of solids.

~ Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Monday meditation

Morning glow

When you are full of meditativeness, it means you are at the very center of your being.  The experiencing of the very center of your being starts blossoming into love, into laughter, into a song, into a dance.

A lovely weekend

Somewhere on the Towpath Trail.

We were blessed with beautiful weather this weekend.  M and I talked about going up to Cleveland for the Ingenuity Festival, but decided we had too much to do to take the hour trip up (and hour trip back).  Maybe next year we’ll make it.

A monarch in the meadow

Landing

The bud
stands for all things
even for those things that don’t flower,
for everything flowers, from within, of self-blessing;
though sometimes it is necessary
to reteach a thing its loveliness,
to put a hand on the brow
of the flower,
and retell it in words and in touch,
it is lovely
until it flowers again from within, of self-blessing.

~ Galway Kinnell

I’ve posted this poem sometime in the past (it seems like long ago), and it came to mind this morning as I was pondering “what next?”
