On the Towpath Trail

Friday on the Towpath Trail.

Mindfulness is being aware of yourself, others, and your surroundings in the moment.  When consciously and kindly focusing awareness on life as it unfolds minute by precious minute, you are better able to savor each experience.  Also, being closely attentive gives you the opportunity to change unwise or painful feelings and responses quickly.  In fact, being truly present in a mindful way is an excellent stress reducer and, because of that, can be seen as consciousness conditioning, a strengthening workout for body, mind, heart, and spirit.

Solitary

Solitary

Grant me the ability to be alone; may it be my way every day
to go outdoors among the trees and grasses,
among all growing things, and there may I be alone,
to talk with the one that I belong to.

~ Rabbi Nachman of Bratzlav

Last day of summer

On the Towpath Trail yesterday

Just a quick post to mark the end of summer, and to say hello.  I’m having fun with our visiting family person.  We’ve been biking and hiking, talking and laughing, and generally having a great time, enjoying each other’s company.  I’ll be back with something more substantial on Sunday.  I will be ending my yoga challenge tomorrow and starting my meditation challenge on Sunday.

I hope you’ve had the time and opportunity to get out and enjoy this last day of summer.  We had a surprisingly nice day.  Surprising because they had been predicting rain.  The rain did arrive a little while ago, but we got to spend most of the day outdoors before that happened and there was plenty of sunshine to go around.

Catch up with you soon!

A lovely weekend

Somewhere on the Towpath Trail.

We were blessed with beautiful weather this weekend.  M and I talked about going up to Cleveland for the Ingenuity Festival, but decided we had too much to do to take the hour trip up (and hour trip back).  Maybe next year we’ll make it.

Bridge

The youth gets together his materials to build a bridge to the moon, or, perchance, a palace or temple on the earth, and, at length, the middle-aged man concludes to build a woodshed with them.

Another Friday Farrago

Bridge over the Tuscarawas River, psychedelic style.

It’s Thursday as I type this.  I’m feeling a bit drained from the heat and humidity.  What better time to sit, relax, sort through some photos, and get a post together?  The computer is located in the coolest part of the house.  Might as well take advantage of it.  The photos from this post are a mixture from this past week, most of them from Monday’s bike ride.  (The one I was too exhausted to blog about.)
