On the Towpath Trail

In the spirit of Halloween, I thought I’d have a little fun with the photos I took on yesterday’s bike ride.  I started my ride in Akron and ended in Peninsula where I caught the train back to Akron.  It was a good ride.  Almost 14 miles when all was said and done.  I did get a bit chilled out there.  The temperature, close to 70 when I started, dropped about 15 degrees while I was riding.  My fingers and toes were numb when I finished.  It felt good to sit by the heater on the train and thaw out.

It’s a dreary Saturday.  Rainy.  Chilly.  Not a good day to spend outdoors.  M has been turning a bushel of apples from the local orchard into applesauce.  I’ve been roasting veggies.  With all that cooking going on for most of the day, the house is pretty toasty.

The wind will indeed be rising.  The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for Monday and Tuesday.  That’s about the time they figure Hurricane Sandy will blow through if remnants of the storm make it this far west.  There are flood watches too.  I read somewhere that we should get at least 4 inches of rain before all is said and done with this cold front and the hurricane.

Ghosts of the Beaver Marsh

That’s it from the Bogs on this damp and chilly day.  Thanks for dropping in.  We’re going to get a fire going in the fireplace soon.  I’ve been wanting to make mulled wine.  This might be a good evening to give it a try.  I hear it’s a very warming drink.  Let’s have a seat in front of the fire and sip on some mulled wine (or cider for those who don’t partake in potent potables).
