One of those days

You get up in the morning and at first everything seems okay, and then you realize everything isn’t okay. It started with the central air conditioning. It had been running all night, non-stop, and yet the house didn’t feel particularly cool. It refused to turn off when I lowered the temperature. Long story, short, an expert had to be called in to get it working again. Naturally this happens as the weather is heating up again.
Not your typical evening in the neighborhood

Horses, a hot air balloon that appeared to be stuck in the trees… it was not at all a typical scene in our neighborhood. We do see horses, and hot air balloons. It’s just that we don’t usually see them at the same time, in the neighbor’s yard.
Walking on clouds

Extraordinarily lucky

It rained and rained and rained. The rain was most welcome. The grass is still brown in spots, but it looks as though most everything else has really perked up after the good drenching. We may get more rain today. The air is soupy and warm, always a good combination for pop-up storms and showers.
Thursday Travels: A picnic lunch

A picnic table near Point Wolfe. Fundy National Park. New Brunswick, Canada.
When we last left off, our intrepid hikers were at the Point Wolfe Beach in Fundy National Park. (In case you missed all the excitement — heh — previous posts from my trip to the Canadian Maritimes will be linked to at the bottom of this post.) Hiking is hungry business so M and I decided to have a picnic lunch before starting our next hike.
