333: Sun and showers

I feel like I should be playing the lottery or something today.  Or at least doing something with the number 3.  Day 333 of my outdoor commitment.  Where did the time go?

Yesterday evening we had some heavy rain with sunshine.  It was a lovely thing to behold.

Especially when the rainbows appeared.

The true harvest of my life is intangible — a little star dust caught, a portion of the rainbow I have clutched.

~ Henry David Thoreau

The light was amazing.

Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold.  But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.

~ Douglas Pagels

Today’s Outdoor Adventures

I took a slow walk around the pond today.  I spent most of my time looking up, admiring the clouds and sky.

We are having a magnificent day here in the Bogs.  It’s relatively cool, breezy, and the air smells fresh and clean after yesterday’s rain showers.

It feels like autumn.  I half way expected to see the leaves on the trees start to change color while I was out on my walk.

Instead, it looks as though the Green Man walked through the area once again.

The greens are different now then they were during our first visit from the Green Man.  They are deeper and darker this late in the summer season.

Green how I want you green.  Green wind.  Green branches.

~ Federico Garcia Lorca

This is not the kind of day to spend indoors.  This would be a great day for hiking in the woods or taking a long bike ride.

Having finished up some outdoor chores, it’s time to go out and play.  Or sit and watch the clouds go by.

Or maybe take a walk back to the woods to see the fairy stump.  Perhaps the fairies will be home this time.

  1. It’s the kind of day that belongs on a postcard – I am LOVING this lower humidity!! Beautiful rainbow capture!! 🙂

  2. I know what you mean – the drier air got here overnight, and tonight is supposed to be about 55…
I love all your pictures, but the one looking across the pond, towards the house (third from the last) is my favorite…maybe its the clouds, reflected in the pond….

  8. It was a perfect late summer day yesterday after a day of storms here in NY. Your photos show how nature clears the heat and humidity into a clear day of puffy clouds and air that feels good to our lungs.

Loved the rainbow photo’s Robin, (made me want to go chasing after the Rainbows end…) … and love the shade of light thro’ sun and rain mixture. from Mother Natures own palette and special colour blend. … The cloud formation on the last photo? a small square cloud?… Never!! 😉 xPenx
