M and I finally got to take our new bikes out for a spin. We woke up to clear skies, sunshine, and a mild breeze. Perfect. It was a little cool (around 50), but after going up the first hill I was thankful for the cooler temperature. That hill was quite a doozy, followed by some smaller hills. I had already anticipated the big hills. The small hills, not too noticeable when I’m walking, are much more evident when I’m pedaling up them.

Some, like the big red ball, are whimsical and fun. Others will require some clean-up.

Literally roared. And howled, moaned, screeched, and an assortment of other noises. The news reports are that we had sustained winds of 30-40 mph, with gusts up to 69 mph (close to hurricane force). Right now our winds are around 22 mph with gusts up to 41 mph.

The world was a library and its books were the stones, leaves, grass, brooks… We learned to do what only the students of nature ever learn, and that was to feel beauty.
~ Luther Standing Bear (1868-1939)
This morning I stood at the back of the house and looked out at the meadows stretching out towards and around the pond, the meadow grasses merging with the wetland cattails, the cattails leading the way to the woods. Everything is so incredibly green. It’s as if the Green Man himself came by and with one touch brought the greening of the land.
215: Look what’s blooming now

Yesterday there was one almost open. Today, there are a bunch of them blooming (and getting blown around by the gusty winds).

Since most of the photos I took today are on the gray and gloomy side, I decided to brighten things up with a series of wildflower shots I took in Colorado last year.
