97: Frigid

(Today’s view of the pond.)

I had to go outside in ten minute increments today.  It was bright and sunny, but painfully cold.  The wind seems to cut right through the layers of clothing and skin and go right to the bone.

Brrrr!

(Tracks on the pond.)

I think this might be the first day this month that we haven’t had so much as a flurry.  From the looks of things we may not get any more snow this week.  There is, however, rain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.  That will likely make a big mess of things once the temperature drops again and everything freezes.

Well, this is a dull post.  How about a visit to the beach just to warm us up a little?

We can take a walk at sunset.

All you have to decide is which way to go…

That’s the only problem with a clear sky in the winter – it doesn’t hold any of the heat in!! Very pretty, though!! I love your beach shots – I can just imagine myself there now, instead of feeling the coldness cut through my hard wood floor, through my socks, and into all the nerve endings in my feet!!

True, Holly. Cloudy days do tend to be warmer.

We’re having an early January thaw this year (with rain and temps in the 50’s). I hope you’re getting some of that warmth too.

      Happy New Year!

I’d love to dig my toes into that warm sand right now! Summer feels about as far away as it could possibly be right now.

Time rushes by so quickly for me lately that I almost feel as though summer is right around the corner, Karma. But I know what you mean. 🙂

Oooh I hate it when it thaws slightly and then freezes, makes for a dangerous time…
and oh yes please, a lovely warm sandy beach,…. I’d even bury myself in it!! So long as you knew where to find me, of course….’tis the only requirement I’d ask for… 😉
Off to hug the radiator… has someone moved it?.. …xPenx

That is a beautiful blue sky in today’s view of the pond.

I think I’d choose the beach though, as long as there was no flooding going on.

  5. It’s been cold here, too. Forecast is for above freezing temps by the weekend. Hope you get some as well. Isn’t the sky amazing this time of year?

    • Robin says:

Thanks, Scott. We did indeed get the above freezing temps (and the early January thaw). I think the cold moves back in tonight but it’s nice to experience it for a little while. 🙂
