A Saturday in September

(Asters in the goldenrod.)

The goldenrod is yellow
The corn is turning brown
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.

~ Childrens song

(Maple leaf in September.)

Sad thoughts and sunny weather.
Ah me, this glory and this grief
Agree not well together!

~ Thomas Parsons, 1880, A Song For September

(Another beautiful Saturday in the Bogs.)

If you’re in the mood for a little reading, there is a lovely article about goldenrod here, and another discussing its medicinal uses here.

I’m seeing a lot of the same here – asters interlaced with goldenrod. Beautiful soft image!

    • Robin says:

      Thank you, Marcie. 🙂

It’s interesting to know that the goldenrod and aster combination are the theme all over this season. Must be their year to shine/bloom.

  2. Anna says:

The first photo of asters in the goldenrod is beautiful!

    • Robin says:

      Thank you, Anna. 🙂

I played around with it in Photoshop to soften it up and make it more… Impressionist, I guess. I wanted to highlight the colors more than the shapes.

  3. September looks like it’s shaping up to be a very pretty month for you in the bogs.

I’m really looking forward to the photos you will be posting here over your Autumn and Winter months, while we are warming up over here in Australia, Robin.

‘Asters in the Goldenrod’ looks like a painting. Beautiful processing Robin.
