Shades of yellow

With some green thrown in to go with the NaBloPo theme, some blue from the skies (and clothes pins), and whatever other color happens to crop up.

These bright yellows go well with the bright late-August days we’ve been having.  I am appreciating them very much now and imagine I will appreciate them again while looking at them during the grays of winter.

We have a lot of tiger swallowtails hanging around the zinnias lately.  I still haven’t seen any monarchs this year.  I wonder what’s up with that?

The sunflowers are blooming nicely.  The biggest one has already gone to seed and the birds have obviously been dining on it.

I like the way the sunflowers appear to have different personalities and attitudes.  This one seems to be standing tall and proud with its hair (petals) slicked back.

These bright summer colors are so nice! I’m so not ready to give summer up! I have to return to work at school on Tuesday and it just feels like summer is rushing to an end.

      Thank you, Karma.

I’m not quite ready to give up summer yet either, even if I do enjoy cooler temperatures. There is a laziness about summer that we seem to quickly lose once September rolls around.

Love the laundry detail..the color. Wonderful summer images!

  4. The butterfly photo reminded me of the day my son chased two butterflies around our front garden, armed with his mobile phone, trying to get a photo with his phone camera! They wouldn’t sit still long enough for him…so pleased this beauty sat still for you.

Your clothes pins…we call them pegs here in Oz. 🙂

Joanne: The secret to capturing butterfly pictures is to stand still and watch. They don’t fly in patterns like dragonflies and damselflies do, but they will generally hang around long enough for you to slowly (very slowly) sneak up on them with the camera.

I’ve always been fascinated with how the English language differs between the different countries. Sometimes it is almost as though we’re speaking different languages. lol!
