Early to rise

M and I were up early this morning.  Very early.  The ground fog was a little heavy but the sky was otherwise clear so we decided to go to Canton for the Balloon Classic that was part of the kickoff for the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement celebrations that will be going on for the next week.

It was amazing, seeing all those balloons as they rose up from the ground.  It was equally amazing to see another group come in from the west, the sky filled with a variety of colors and shapes.

I took tons of photos but don’t have time to sort through them right now.  On our way home from watching the balloons we stopped by Hilgerts Farm Market for a couple of things and ended up coming home with 17 lbs. of broccoli.  I’m happy it came in when it did.  Another week or two and I would have had to cancel my order and have them give it to someone else.

I’ll be spending the day prepping, blanching, and bagging broccoli.  See ya tomorrow with (I hope) some balloon shots.

Hey, Spenser and I got up at 3AM to go to a balloon thing this morning up in Santa Paula. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate and the balloons never got off the ground for the race. We did however manage to get up in the air in a tethered balloon. Hope you made out beter than we did. Photos soon. 😉

Looking forward to your photos, R(etc… ).

We had great weather and the balloons did lift off. I didn’t get to go up, even on a tethered one. Someday… 🙂

I’ve missed the balloon festival the past few years. My daughter and I would get up at 4 and be at the venue by 4:30 for the 5 am dawn patrol.

I wish… I wish… Well, I guess I’ll have to be satisfied looking at your pictures!

I’ve never seen a mass lifting of balloons. Madison has had a lift of maybe 20 at a time and that only a few times. The fog shots are very mood setting. Nice.

Hope you got that broccoli done. Lots of hard work for sure!

Bo: It took me a while but it’s all packaged and in the freezer. Now I just have to hope we don’t have a great power outage like we did last year. *fingers crossed*

Holy cruciferous vegetables! You’ll be eating for a while on that much broccoli. As a kid, broccoli always made me think of green cumulus clouds. Actually, if growers advertised broccoli the way they do cheese, milk, frozen pizza, or TV dinners, they’d do well to have a balloon in the shape of a broccoli floret.

    • Robin says:

OmbudsBen: lol! Yes, we’ll be eating broccoli throughout the winter, that’s for sure.

I like your advertising idea. I wonder if there is a Broccoli Counsel or something where you could submit that?
