Ice cream

(The remains.)

M and I took the short drive to New Baltimore for ice cream the other night. We don’t indulge often. That makes it that much more fun and yummy when we do.

Before we got there I was thinking “hot fudge sundae.” When we got there I looked over their flavors for the day and spotted blueberry ice cream on the menu. I find it hard to resist blueberry anything. It’s my favorite fruit.

The New Baltimore ice cream stand makes their own ice cream. It’s some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. Rich, creamy, and delicious. The small cone is more than enough as the scoop is large and heaped on top of that little cake cone.   Or you can get a waffle cone if you prefer. They also have shakes, malts, and floats.

While you’re sitting at one of the picnic tables near the rear of the stand, you can watch a couple of the local little league teams play baseball. Or you can face the road and watch the traffic go by. It’s very likely some of that traffic will include one of the nearby farmers in his tractor, holding up the people in cars who always seem to be in a hurry.

I wasn’t able to get a photo of the scoop in all its glory because the temperature was in the upper 80’s, forcing me to eat fast or end up with a mess of melted ice cream running all over my hand.

The blueberries are now in season here in Ohio. I hear they have a bumper crop this year at one of the farms in Garrettsville. We bought a 5 lb. bag from our local farm market this morning. I should go pick them myself. They’re cheaper that way. But in the current heat and humidity, I’d rather pay a little extra to have someone else pick them.

I’m lazy that way.

We sure do miss Baltimore’s ice cream! Good ice cream is hard to come by – we have been on the look-out ever since moving to AZ and we have not found anything that compares. Enjoy a cone for us. 🙂
