Winter is coming

It’s been chilly here. Ice is starting to form on the pond:

And NaBloPoMo is over!! Let’s all celebrate.

I think I’ll celebrate by taking a few days off from blogging. Perhaps more than a few days as I have some serious reading to do if I expect to meet my 50 Books Challenge this year. So far I’ve only read 31 books.

I have a feeling I won’t make it to 50. It would take a serious marathon for me to read 19 books in one month. This is a particularly bad month for catching up on things like that, what with the Holidaze almost upon us.

I did, as mentioned at my other blog, meet another goal I set for this year. Every year I challenge myself to a certain amount of mileage. This year my goal was 850 miles. I hit and passed my walking goal last week.

I’m shooting for 900 miles in 2008. I’d better buy myself a new pair of walking shoes for my birthday. I’m going to need them.

Almost there

The end of NaBloPoMo for this year is in sight.  I’ll be glad when it’s over.

That may seem odd coming from someone who posts nearly every day anyhow, but there it is.  I’ll be glad when it’s over.

I’m not feeling well today so I’ll forgo the writing and leave you with a few images from our San Diego trip.

Holding my place

I’m not sure what the day is going to be like so I’m putting in another place holder.  I have to shut down the computer and get everything covered to keep out the dust.

I’ll be back with new windows.  I hope.

Basement windows

Tomorrow we’re having some of our basement windows replaced. They’re old, metal casement windows that don’t look too bad as long as there’s no light shining on them.

Here’s what they really look like:

Sunny Sunday

(Izzy & Bella, trying to nap. Photo by Robin. November 2007)

The sun is shining here in the Bogs today. The high temperature today is supposed to get up around 48 degrees. My plan is to get out there and soak up some of that sunlight.

I noticed yesterday that my calendar here at the blog was a mess. I’ve been posting religiously every day of this month, but my WordPress clock was way off, throwing off my dates. I’ve fixed the timestamp options at least three or four times. I hope it takes this time.

Not much else to babble on about this morning so I’m off to enjoy my Sunday.

Turkey Day

No time to post much of anything today. Today is Turkey Day.

I had originally planned to have the turkey yesterday, but we had so much food to eat and as leftovers on Thanksgiving Day that I decided to put off the turkey until today. As it turns out, this worked out better in terms of the turkey being thawed. I usually have to give the turkey a cold water bath at 5:00 on Thanksgiving morning to help the thawing along. It didn’t need a bath this time.

I hope to get back to some regular posting as well as reading and commenting tomorrow. The bulk of the festivities should be over by then.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving weekend.
