A hop, skip, and a jump later

We’re home in the Bogs for Memorial Day weekend.

I didn’t have time to post before we left, what with getting ready to go and all. Not that I had much to post about. Life is going along pretty smoothly these days. M and I have a routine going in Sabbaticalville and when we’re going about our routine, there isn’t much to write about.

The drive home was uneventful, just the way I like it. No breakdowns, no running out of gas, no near misses. M is a great driver, something I don’t thank him enough for doing. As some of you know, I have a driving phobia so the dear man gets stuck with 99.99% of the driving in our lives. My phobia sometimes extends to being in the passenger seat, but I keep it repressed as much as possible as it wouldn’t be right or fair of me to start nagging and telling the driver how to drive when I’m not willing to do it myself.

It’s hot here in the Bogs. The temperature was 84 degrees (F) when we arrived around 6:00pm. I’m surprised to see how rundown the property looks. The trees are looking raggedy, the pond is developing a bad case of algae, and the grass is badly in need of a good mow. I’m not sure if the trees are looking so stressed due to the snow and cold hitting them just as they were budding (last time we were home) or if it’s the lack of rain. A good aeration (paddle around the pond in the paddle boat) might take care of some of the algae problems. And M the Younger needs a few lessons in how to properly mow a lawn. Ironic, really, because his summer job is with a local school system mowing lawns.

He could also use a few lessons in housekeeping, but I’m not going to fuss at him (too much) about it. I know he was studying hard for finals the past couple weeks. I’m happy to say that he’s doing well in school. All A’s and B’s this semester. That’s a pleasant change from when he was floundering around looking for something to major in after OCS didn’t work out for him.

It’s good to be home. I’m going to relax and enjoy it this evening. Tomorrow will be soon enough to start all the work we need to do before heading back to Sabbaticalville on Monday.

Amusing/sad spam of the day:
