A walk along the Potomac
Posted: March 8, 2007 Filed under: friends, nature, sabbatical, travel 2 CommentsAs promised, here are some photos from our Sunday walk alongside both the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and the Potomac River. Or in between both. Or something like that. I’d like to go back someday (when it’s not as cold and windy) to do some more hiking around the park.
All photos were taken by me.
The towpath.
A close-up of the boat seen in the first photo. I think they have boat rides along the canal during the summer months.
Things you need to know before doing something stupid.
You really don’t want to go swimming or wading in that. On our way out (after our walk), we saw some people getting ready to go kayaking. Crazy, crazy. You’ll see why in the next few photos.
See what I mean?
Yep, I think you’d have to be slightly mad to go kayaking when the river is raging like this. I would imagine there are a lot of rocks under that white water we’re not seeing.
More photos to come.
