Ice

Today’s Lens Day Challenge is Ice.

This is another photo from the Bogs, taken about a year ago while M and I were on a hike. Up until today, the weather here in Sabbaticalville has been so warm that I would’ve had to go to the freezer to get a photograph of ice.

Winter has finally made a decent appearance. I went for a walk this afternoon and really enjoyed the crisp, clean, cold feeling of the air. The sun is shining, but the occasional clouds move through bringing with them some very light snow flurries that are scattered about by the gusty winds.

I had to laugh this morning when a television program I was watching was interrupted for a special weather bulletin. It was snowing in Philadelphia and parts of New Jersey (including the town where I grew up). Not serious snow, mind you. Just snow. Flurries, probably. Cracked me up. In the Bogs the snow would have to be coming down a foot at a time before they’d interrupt programming for a special weather bulletin. In the Bogs we’re used to snow. I feel a little sorry for the children in the snowbelt of the Bogs. Snow days are rare, even the year we had over 100 inches of snow. They know how to handle snow in the Bogs. The roads are cleared as soon as the first snowflake lands and they keep it up for as long as it snows. School closings for snow just done happen. For ice, yes. Not for snow.

Your Daily Mummer:

I had quite a few Mummers come up and pose for me. My camera is a little on the slow side so I wasn’t able to capture all the moments like this (something I think maybe I should be thankful for…lol!).
