Raining Cats & Dogs

(Raindrops on a tree in front of the library. January 2007. Photo by Robin)

I took a walk in the rain today. A book I’d ordered from the library had come in and it seemed as good a time as any to walk over and get it. I’m working on my Amazon.com wishlist, whittling it down by finding or ordering what I can from the local public library.

A library card is an amazing thing. All those books (and CD’s and DVD’s and even artwork!) available for free (or mostly for free) by the simple use of one little card.

I enjoyed the walk. It was raining a bit harder than I expected, but it was still lovely. I took my camera along, keeping it under my jacket most of the time, shooting photos from under the umbrella. I got a few odd looks and even the librarian commented (“You’re taking photographs today?” said with great shock, followed by “That’s unusual” when I answered in the affirmative). My camera survived rain and waterfalls in Yosemite. I think it can handle a little Pennsylvania downpour.

Besides, there’s beauty in those raindrops. I want to capture it when I can.

I am sure it is a great mistake always to know enough to go in when it rains. One may keep snug and dry by such knowledge, but one misses a world of loveliness. — Adeline Knapp
