Thanksgiving Day

(Some of the vegetarian jambalaya ingredients. November 23, 2006)

I googled “heron stories” yesterday in search of some witty or wise quote, or maybe a short story about the heron. Google asked me if I meant “heroin.” I think of that every time I see the title to yesterday’s post and now it’s beginning to look like “Shooting the heroin.”

We’re having friends over for a vegetarian Cajun Thanksgiving dinner today. We did the turkey thing over the weekend so there’s no desire to do it again so soon. We’re having vegetarian jambalaya as the main course. I’m not sure about the appetizer since our friends are bringing that with them. Dessert is a choice of apple pie, pumpkin pie, cheesecake, or carrot cake. I didn’t bake any of them. I love to cook, but don’t care much for baking. I think that’s because baking requires you to be so precise about things whereas cooking is something I can do intuitively.

It’s another clear and sunny day here in the Bogs. The plan is to hang out some more laundry and finish the packing before our friends arrive. It’s an ambitious plan, but do-able (if I get off this computer and get moving, that is).

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you out there celebrating it! Thank you for stopping by, reading, and leaving the occasional comment. I appreciate it. 🙂
