Election Day

I’m feeling a little down in the dumps today. Part of it is due to the pain which continues pretty much unabated. I’m becoming frustrated and tired. And part of it is due to what day this is.

It’s election day here in the U.S. and I no longer have much faith in our system after what happened during the last two presidential elections. I’m not even sure my vote counts with the Republicans running the new electronic voting machines we in the Bogs are now forced to use. (Side note of sorts: Rolling Stone magazine had a good article about what happened in Ohio in 2004: Was the 2004 Election Stolen?)

But I will go to my local polling place and I’ll cast my vote because a part of me still retains a little hope and a little faith that in the end things will work out as they should.

I think election day should be a holiday. I suspect more people might vote if they had the day off from work to do so.

One of the things I’ve been enjoying about NaBloPoMo is visiting all the other people out there who are also particpating. Not that I’ve gotten around to visiting them all, yet. But I’ve lurked at quite a few. There are so many good writers out there with interesting things to write about. Makes me think that I should start living my own life a tad more so I’ll have more interesting things to write about.

Actually, my life is pretty full these days, just not with particularly interesting things. We have the move coming up at the end of the month and getting ready for that keeps us busy. Six months in a new city. Now that will be interesting. And exciting. I’m looking forward to it.

NaBloPoMo: Day 7

Politics – I don’t know why, but they seem to have a tendency to separate us, to keep us from one another, while nature is always and ever making efforts to bring us together. ~Sean O’Casey
