Turtle BeachPosted: September 26, 2006
On warm and sunny days the turtles all come out and sun themselves by the side of the pond. Some days there are enough of them out there to justify the name Turtle Beach. I caught this guy out there one day last weekend. With his head raised as it is, he looks a little like he’s worshipping the sun. Maybe the turtles come out so much during this time of year so they can soak up as many rays as possible before the ice and cold of winter.
The high today was in the mid-60’s. That got me to thinking that it will soon be time to take the boats up and store them for the winter months. It’s going to be odd not being here in the Bogs for the winter. At least we’ll be spared the decision of whether or not to have a winter party. We’ve been trying to have one for the past few winters, but it hasn’t worked out in terms of just the right weather where the pond is frozen enough for ice skating and there’s plenty of snow for sledding and/or crosscountry skiing. Since we won’t be here there will be no decision to make.
Time is flying by quickly these days. I was looking at the calendar earlier and realized that it’s time to start getting my house in order and ready for our move. There’s so much to do between now and when we leave. I’m hoping to make it easier for M the Younger to keep things neat and clean while he’s housesitting for us. At the same time, I’m trying not to think too much about M the Younger living here for six months. I love him dearly, but … he’s such a slob. I can just imagine what the house will look like after he’s been here for a month or so. On second thought, it might be best if I keep that visual out of my head.
We’re going to visit our granddaughter and her parents this weekend. I’m really looking forward to seeing Emma again. 🙂 She gets cuter and cuter everytime we see her.
I suppose I ought to do something about dinner for tonight. Some pasta tossed with fresh tomatoes and basil sounds good, along with a big salad. We still have fresh tomatoes to eat and the basil hasn’t gone to seed yet so it’s still good.
That’s about it from the Bogs for now. I hope all is well with whoever (whomever??) might be out there reading. (I’m not entirely sure anyone is reading since there are no comments to judge by.)
